This morning I attended a breakfast presentation on complete streets by Stuart Ramsay, Manager of Transportation Planning with the City of Burnaby. It provided an insight into how the City sees its town centre street network developing to be inclusive of all modes. Compared with many towns and cities who are trying to retrofit better pedestrian and cyclist provision into constrained cross sections, the City are in a very fortunate position to see their major town centres being significantly redeveloped. This provides the opportunity to rebuild streets to their preferred cross section. Read on to view most of the slides and view some examples beginning to be implemented on the street.
These are the photos taken after the presentation of the examples currently under construction.
